Why Are Popular Businesses That Make So Much Money Pay Their Employees Minimum Wage?

Places like Mcdonalds and burger king make so much money everyday with it’s millions of customers per day. Also, there needs to be someone to pick fruits and vegetables and repair things like car parts. There are also people who make cheap clothes in suckish places with bad conditions that are bought everyday.
So if those businesses are really needed and make so much money everyday, why are the workers payed so little?

    It takes little skill to be a McDonalds worker.
    If you do not want to work for min. wage, they will find someone that will. If there was not a “perpetual unemployment” that offered a shortage in labor supply, then yes they may raise wages. But right now they have plenty of supply.

    It all has to do with supply and demand. The supply of unskilled labour is massive in terms of student and unemployed workers. The demand is 1 in every 100 person for example. These companies pay little because anyone can flip burgers, so if that 1 person refuses to do the job at minimum wage, they got 99 others to fill in the empty spot.
    Plus most individuals are happy having a job, especially students.

    They have so many employees. If they increase by a little, then their profits would still be very high, although they would be losing a lot of money. You pay the least that people will work for, it may be unfair but it is smart business.
