I’m one of the odd people that like to look at pictures of derelict buildings, disused railway stations, abandoned villages, etc. I have no idea why I have an obsession with such a weird thing but I do. :/
Does anyone know whether I can see any such places on Google maps street view?
UK site preferably but I’ll also welcome worldwide sites. Thanks.
The Longbridge car plant where they built the MG Rover is one that comes to mind. They also used to build Peugeot’s in the Stoke area of Coventry and that has closed down.
I’m sure that with closure of many factories moving abroad you will be able to find a few of these in the UK!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longbridge_…http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/show…
Battersea Power Station is one that has always fascinated me.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battersea_P…
With Google Maps you usually can only use street view in very popular and well known places like very big cities. For example I live in a small town and i can’t use street view there. The UK is a really good idea, try small towns and villages by Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. Also small villages like Glamis in Scotland.
probably not on street view, but definitely from overhead. what you’re into is called industrial archeology, and its a blast. just be careful not to expose yourself to asbestos if you’re creeping into old buildings.
have you looked at the Derelict London website … some great photos and maybe some ideas of where you could lookhttp://www.derelictlondon.com/home_page.…
